Fault Tolerant SCADA/MES/Historian Application

Overview

The customer was looking to upgrade their existing SCADA/MES/Historian System and to ensure the applications is aligned with High Availability of a minimum of 99.999%. Stratus ftServers provide uptime of 99.999% at a reasonable cost. Stratus Technologies Fault Tolerant architecture need only 1 license of Historian/MES/SCADA to be purchased only.

Challenges

Critical infrastructures in Singapore are required to have a tech refresh schedule to ensure the equipment, network and systems are operating efficiently and up to date with technologies to improve operational efficiency.

  1. The customer requires a solution of servers that has a minimum of 99.999% uptime and is hardware-based fault-tolerant protection.
  2. A server solution that is minimal maintenance and easy to replace if the hardware is damaged.
  3. A server solution that is able to extract physical server performance report monthly for performance monitoring.

Solutions

HoST together with Stratus Technologies partnered to provide the customer with a server solution that complies with all customer requirements and furthermore at a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

  1. Reliability is paramount;
  2. Customer coverage at an early stage allowing Stratus specs in RFP;
  3. Eliminated risks and challenges of integrating SCADA/MES/Historian systems with failover clusters;
  4. Deployed at the edge so ease of operation, manageability, maintenance is key;
  5. Long-term hardware support and maintenance offering peace-of-mind assurance.

The Impact:

  1. The customer has no unplanned downtime
  2. Only require one software licensing and have hardware fault-tolerant redundancy which directly relates to lowering the TCO.
  3. Replacement of server node does not require shutdown of the server which relates to no downtime of production
